Turo review message to guest

A review message is a short ask after a trip that actually went well. It is not a script for a rating, and it is not the note you send while you are still looking at a new scratch in the bumper. Send it once, in the trip thread, after you have seen the car.

When to send it

Wait until the car is back and you have walked around it. A thanks can go out earlier. The thank-you in the guest message templates is that note. The review ask is the one that follows, if the trip was clean: fuel where you asked, no surprise damage, no open argument about a fee.

Turo gives both of you a window to review. How long it stays open, and what the guest sees, changes. Check Turo’s help center for the current rules before you tell a guest they have “until Friday.” If the window on your side is already closed, do not send an ask that points them at a button they no longer have.

Do not put this ask on a schedule that fires the hour the trip ends. You have not seen the car yet. A scheduled thanks is a different message, covered with the other clock-based notes in Turo scheduled messages. Send the review line yourself, after the walkaround.

What to say

Use their name, the car, and one true detail if you have one. Ask them to leave a review on the trip if they have a minute. Stop there. Do not tell them how many stars to choose. Do not offer a discount, a fee waiver, a free hour, or a refund in exchange. Anything like that is a deal you would have to keep, and you should check Turo’s current host guidelines before you attach any perk to a review.

Two or three sentences is the whole message. Guests read it on a phone, often after they have already left town. A paragraph about your standards reads like a complaint even when you meant it as context. If they already wrote that the car was great, skip the recap and send the short ask. You are not writing the review for them, and you are not telling them which button to tap.

You can leave your review of the guest when you are ready. Do not describe Turo’s reveal rules in the message. If you are not sure whether they can see your review yet, leave that out and let the help center be the source.

When to skip it

Skip the ask, or wait, when something is still open. A damage photo you have not answered. A refund they requested. A late return you are still sorting on the trip. Asking for a review in the same breath as a charge is how a fair complaint becomes the whole review.

If you already fixed a small thing and they were fine with it, you can mention it in one clause and then ask. If they are still unhappy, answer that. The review can wait, or it can stay unsent. One ask is enough. A second message the next day, and a third, trains people to ignore you.

Keep it in the trip messages. Do not move the ask to a personal text. The other notes around return are on the guides for Turo hosts.

Templates

Replace anything in [brackets]. Leave out the bracket if you do not have a specific detail. A blank “glad the [trip] worked out” is worse than a plain thanks.

Clean trip

Hi [Guest first name], thanks for taking good care of the [Car]. If you have a minute, a review on the trip helps the next guest know what to expect. You’re welcome back any time.

One true detail

Hi [Guest first name], glad the [Car] worked out for [the trip, for example the weekend]. Thanks for bringing it back in good shape. If you have a minute, a short review on the trip is welcome.

Small issue already settled

Hi [Guest first name], glad we sorted [the issue, for example the toll question]. Thanks again for the trip in the [Car]. If you have a minute, a review on the trip is welcome. Hope to host you again.

Use the third one only after the issue is actually finished. If it is still open, do not send it.

Questions hosts ask

When should I send a review message? After the car is back and you have looked at it, while Turo still shows the trip as open for a review. Check Turo’s help center for how long that window stays open. Do not send it before you know the trip was fine.

Should I ask for a specific star rating? Ask them to leave a review if the trip went well. Do not ask for a number of stars, and do not offer a discount, a fee waiver, or a free extra hour in exchange. Check Turo’s current host guidelines before you add anything to the ask.

What if the trip had a problem? Finish that conversation first. If a charge, a scratch, or a late return is still open, do not ask for a review in the same thread until it is settled. If you already fixed it and they were fine, a short note can mention that and then ask.

Can I schedule the review ask? A thanks can go on a schedule. A review ask should wait until you have seen the car, so skip the schedule for that line and send it yourself. Keep it in the trip messages.
